Ecology Expert Journey
My background in ecology began in Ontario, Canada where I gained my Bachelor of Environmental Studies and post-graduate studies in Ecosystem Restoration and then worked for two years in reptile conservation. In 2017 I expanded my career into consultancy in the UK. I began in Hampshire county and southern England and gained extensive experience in field surveys and various protected species.
I’ve grown and gained experience with navigating complex development sites and now work as a senior ecologist, mentoring junior ecologists in providing ecological input into sites. I am currently primarily remote-based but work closely with a network of skilled ecologists on the ground to ensure a fluid approach to carrying out all required ecological works for planning.
In the past few years ecological requirements in the UK are rapidly shifting, with the introduction of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), nutrient neutrality and changing planning policy and legislation. I stay relevant to ensure I provide my clients with the most up to date advice possible and with early planning and adaptation make sure there are no unforeseen risks.
